THE RE-TAKING OF PELHAM ONE TWO THREE
WNYC's David Garland to Host Pre-Concert Chat with David Shire and
Steve Horowitz
The world premiere of The Re-taking of Pelham One Two Three will be featured
as part of the four-day West Goes East-CalArts at the Kitchen festival. The
original piece by composer Steve Horowitz (SUPER SIZE ME) and filmmaker Jane
Brill will be premiered on Saturday January 29, 2005. The night will kick
off with a special pre-concert conversation with THE TAKING OF PELHAM ONE
TWO THREE composer David Shire and The Re-taking of Pelham One Two Three
composer Horowitz, moderated by David Garland, host of Evening Music and
Spinning on Air on WNYC radio. The Re-taking of Pelham One Two Three will
be performed by The Code International, with sampler Christopher Romero, The
Flux Quartet, and pianist Kathy Supove.
Says Shire on the reworking of his classic score, "What greater compliment
for a composer than to have inspired/influenced a talented peer?"
The four day festival, West Goes East - CalArts at The Kitchen runs from
January 26-29 at The Kitchen, 512 West 19th Street. Tickets can be
purchased at the box office or by calling 212.255.5793x11.
